Plenty of cats need something every day. A thyroid tablet twice daily. Kidney support. Eye drops after surgery. Pain relief for stiff joints. For their owners, boarding raises one question above all others, and it isn’t about the size of the Suite.
At Cat Utopia, medication is part of the daily round, not an add-on someone has to remember. Every guest’s requirements are written down at booking, checked against what you send with your cat, and worked through as part of the daily care routine. Our team includes Nannies with veterinary nursing qualifications, so the person handling your cat’s medication has handled medication before.
We’re also honest about where the line sits. We’re a boarding resort, not a veterinary hospital. We follow your vet’s instructions precisely, we watch your cat closely, and if something needs a vet, we get a vet involved and we tell you. That boundary is the whole reason owners of medicated cats can relax here.

The TLC Program in every Suite includes daily monitoring of health, appetite, and behaviour. For a medicated cat, that daily observation matters as much as the dose. If your cat goes off their food, seems flat, or something changes, we see it and act on it.

There are no dogs on site. For a cat who's older, post-operative, or managing a chronic condition, a quiet, low-stress environment isn't a luxury, it's part of them coping with the stay at all.

Booking a Cat on Medication, Step by Step

Phone us before you book online.
Call (02) 4358 2608 and tell us the condition, the medication, the form it comes in, and the schedule. For medicated cats we'd always rather have the conversation up front than discover the detail at drop-off. It also lets us tell you honestly if something is outside what we can manage.

Confirm vaccinations and admission requirements.
F3 minimum, boostered at least two weeks before arrival, with a vet certificate on or before drop-off. All cats over six months must be desexed. A nail clip before boarding is compulsory.

Send written instructions with the medication.
Original labelled packaging, enough for the full stay plus a few days' buffer, and clear written dosing directions from your vet. Include your vet's name and phone number so we can contact them directly if we ever need to.

Talk us through the practical bit at drop-off.
How your cat takes it. Wrapped in food, pilled directly, a two-person job. If there's a trick that works at home, tell us. Reception is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 11am, or the Cat Chauffeur can collect door to door if getting here is difficult.
5.
Daily dosing, daily monitoring, updates while you're away.
Medication is given as prescribed and recorded, health and appetite are checked daily, and you'll get photo and message updates during the stay. If anything changes with your cat's health, we contact you.

Bringing a Medicated Cat from Sydney, the Coast, Newcastle or Lake Macquarie
We’re at Doyalson North on the northern Central Coast. For owners of cats with health conditions, the practical questions are usually about the trip itself, so here’s how it works from each direction.
Central Coast:Your closest option, covering Wyong, Tuggerah, The Entrance, Budgewoi, Toukley, San Remo, Lake Haven, Gosford, Erina, Terrigal, Woy Woy and surrounds. Short trips are easier on a cat who isn’t well.
Newcastle and the Hunter: Roughly 45 minutes south of Newcastle, serving Merewether, Hamilton, New Lambton, Adamstown, Kotara and out toward Maitland.
Lake Macquarie: A straightforward run from Belmont, Swansea, Caves Beach, Catherine Hill Bay, Morisset and Toronto, and inside the Cat Chauffeur’s service area.
Sydney: About an hour and a quarter from the CBD, and around an hour and twenty from Sydney Airport. If your cat travels badly on top of everything else, the Cat Chauffeur collects across the Sydney metro in a cat-only, air-conditioned vehicle with an experienced driver.

If your cat’s medication needs specific timing, refrigeration, or handling, tell us when you call and we’ll confirm we can meet it.

Subcutaneous fluids sit at the veterinary end of care rather than routine boarding care. Phone us to discuss your cat’s situation before booking. Depending on what’s required, the right answer may be boarding with us alongside arranged veterinary support, and we’d rather work that out with you in advance than at drop-off.
We regularly look after cats with the everyday chronic conditions: hyperthyroidism, kidney disease, arthritis, heart conditions, skin conditions, and cats recovering after routine surgery. The determining factor is usually how much intervention is needed and how quickly, not the diagnosis itself. Call us with the specifics and we’ll give you a straight answer about whether boarding suits your cat right now.
Health is monitored daily, so problems are usually picked up early. If your cat needs veterinary attention we arrange it, and we contact you. This is why we ask for your vet’s name and number at drop-off, along with an emergency contact who can make decisions if you’re overseas or unreachable. Any veterinary costs incurred are the owner’s responsibility.
