A Cat-Only Resort Built for the Long Stay
Some cats stay a weekend. Plenty stay a month or more. A long booking is normal here, and the care doesn’t thin out over time.
When a stay runs into weeks, the small things stop being small. Whether your cat keeps eating. Whether they stay calm without you. Whether anyone notices early if something’s off. That’s exactly what a long stay tests, and it’s what Cat Utopia is built around.
We’re a resort designed only for cats, run by a founder with over 30 years in the pet industry. No dogs on site. No barking through the walls. No mixed-species stress for a cat who’s here for the long stretch. Every Suite was shaped around cat behaviour, not retrofitted from a kennel.
Long-stay guests are part of our normal week. We’ve boarded cats for four weeks, eight weeks, and nine weeks, and the line we hear most on collection is that they came home as though they’d never left.
Why Owners Choose Us for Long Stays
Cats that settle in, not just survive the week.
Every Suite includes the TLC Program: daily one-on-one time with the Nannies, gentle brushing, and daily monitoring of behaviour, appetite, and mood. Over a long stay that's what keeps a cat eating and relaxed instead of shutting down. Rocky stayed about four weeks for his first time boarding and came home happy and settled.
Published rates, no surprises across a long booking.
Every nightly rate is on the website, from $32 for a Classique Suite to $130 for a Penthouse. A 20% peak surcharge applies from 15 December to 15 January, and 10% across NSW school holidays. Extras like Sparkles Spa grooming or Cat Chauffeur transport are quoted before you book, so a long stay doesn't drift past what you planned.
Care that holds up over weeks, not just nights.
Medication is administered daily and recorded. Cats 13 and over move into our Orient Suites with the Senior Package included. Special diets are followed as provided. Long stays are where lapses show, so we monitor health every single day and have a vet reachable if something needs attention.
You hear from us the whole time you're away.
Photo and message updates from the Nannies are part of every stay, and they matter most when you're gone for weeks. Owners tell us the updates are what let them actually enjoy the trip. When Poppy stayed nine weeks, her owners kept in contact the whole time and always got a quick, reassuring reply.
Our Suites for Long Stays
Every Suite at Cat Utopia includes the TLC Program:
- One-on-one interaction with our Nannies
- Gentle brushing (not full grooming or knot removal)
- Daily monitoring of behaviour, appetite, and mood
- Daily monitoring of health, including medication where prescribed
- Photo and message updates while you’re away
For a stay of weeks rather than nights, comfort and climate control do more work. Our Imperial and Penthouse Suites have air conditioning, heated flooring, and TV screens running cat enrichment videos. The Sanctuary Retreat gives long-stay and peak-period guests a quiet, heated, air-conditioned space of their own. There are no daily activity surcharges hidden inside the TLC Program.

Booking a Long Stay, Step by Step
1.
Get in touch.
Phone (02) 4358 2608 or book online. Tell us your dates, your cat's age, any medication, special diet, and the Suite tier you have in mind. For long stays, the earlier the better, especially around Christmas and school holidays.
2.
Confirm vaccinations.
F3 minimum, boostered at least two weeks before arrival, with a vet certificate on or before drop-off. All cats over six months must be desexed.
3.
Settle the details for an extended stay.
Drop off everything we'll need for the duration: medication with a clear dosing schedule, special diet food, and your vet's contact details. Your boarding account is paid in full before collection (or before Cat Chauffeur pick-up).
4.
Drop off, or book the Cat Chauffeur.
Reception is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 11am, for check-ins and check-outs. Flying out or interstate? The Cat Chauffeur does a quoted door-to-door pick-up and return. After-hours arrivals go through the Transit Lounge by appointment, with a $20 Sunday fee where it applies.
5.
Get updates, then collect a settled cat.
Photo and message updates from the Nannies run through the stay. Collect before 11am on departure day to avoid a full-day charge, or book the Cat Chauffeur to bring your cat home.

FROM DOYALSON TO NATIONAL TELEVISION
Channel 9’s Today Extra sent a crew inside Cat Utopia to film the Suites, meet the Nannies, and show what a cat-only luxury resort looks like from the inside. It’s the same resort your cat settles into for a long stay.
Easy to Reach from Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle and Lake Macquarie
Cat Utopia is at Doyalson North, on the northern Central Coast, roughly halfway between Sydney and Newcastle. For a long stay, that position works in your favour. A long booking means one drop-off and one pick-up, so a slightly longer drive is a one-off, not a daily run. And if you’d rather not drive at all, the Cat Chauffeur handles both legs door to door.
Central Coast: We’re the local long-stay resort for the whole Coast, including Wyong, Tuggerah, The Entrance, Budgewoi, Toukley, San Remo, Lake Haven, Gosford, Erina, Terrigal, Woy Woy, and the surrounding suburbs.
Newcastle and the Hunter: About 45 minutes south of Newcastle, we’re the nearest cat-only luxury resort for Newcastle, Merewether, Hamilton, New Lambton, Adamstown, Kotara, and out toward Maitland. There’s no premium cat-only option closer for most Newcastle owners.
Lake Macquarie: Just south of the lake, an easy run for Belmont, Swansea, Caves Beach, Catherine Hill Bay, Morisset, and Toronto owners. The Cat Chauffeur covers Lake Macquarie if you’d rather we collect.
Sydney: About an hour and a quarter from the CBD, and around an hour and twenty from Sydney Airport. Plenty of Sydney owners board here for long trips, especially when flying overseas, because the drive happens only twice across the whole stay. The Cat Chauffeur collects from across the Sydney metro, so a long stay can start and end at your front door.
Owners drop off at the resort, or book the Cat Chauffeur for a quoted door-to-door pick-up and return across Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle, and Lake Macquarie.

Long-Stay Cat Boarding FAQs
There’s no fixed maximum. Cats regularly board with us for four to nine weeks, and longer stays are part of our normal week. Boarding is charged per night per Suite, so a long stay is simply your nightly rate across the dates you book. Phone (02) 4358 2608 to talk through an extended booking.
Comfort over weeks comes from routine and climate, not just space. Our Imperial, Penthouse, Orient, and Sanctuary Retreat Suites have air conditioning and heating, and every Suite includes the TLC Program: daily Nannie interaction, gentle brushing, enrichment, and daily monitoring of appetite, mood, and health. Photo and message updates run through the whole stay.
Our nightly Suite rates are published on the website and apply across the length of your stay. We don’t list an automatic long-stay discount online, so for an extended booking phone the office on (02) 4358 2608 and we’ll talk through your dates and the best Suite for the stay.
Yes, this is one of the most common reasons people book an extended stay. Boarding keeps your cat calm and contained away from movers, open doors, and the chaos of a move. Book early so the right Suite is held, and consider the Cat Chauffeur if you’re tied up on moving day.
Yes. Extended boarding keeps your cat away from dust, noise, tradespeople coming and going, and any chemicals used during pest treatment or fumigation, until your home is safe and settled. Tell us your likely dates and we’ll hold a Suite for the duration.
Yes. Phone the office on (02) 4358 2608 and we’ll arrange drop-off, or send the Cat Chauffeur to collect your cat if you can’t get to us. Bring or send any medication with a dosing schedule and your vet’s details so care continues without a gap.
Yes. Our Nannies administer prescribed medication daily and monitor health throughout the stay. Cats aged 13 and over are placed in our Orient Suites with the Senior Package included, which is built around older cats who need more attention over a longer booking.
The full booked period is charged regardless of early collection, so we recommend booking the dates you’re reasonably confident of. If your plans firm up, phone the office as early as you can and we’ll do what we can to help.
Start on the Booking page or call (02) 4358 2608. Bookings include a vaccination check and a Suite assignment based on your cat’s age, temperament, and any special requirements, which matters more the longer the stay.
