Cat Utopia is at 21 Daley Street, Doyalson North, about 40 minutes south of Newcastle on the northern Central Coast. We’re the nearest resort built only for cats that Newcastle and Hunter owners can reach. There isn’t one closer to the city.
We’re not a cattery wing of a kennel. We’re a resort built only for cats, by a founder who’s worked in the pet industry for over 30 years. No dogs on site. No barking. No mixed-species noise carrying through walls. Every Suite was designed around cat physiology, behaviour, and instincts.
That short drive south is the trade-off for a resort designed entirely around your cat. And if you’d rather not make it, the Cat Chauffeur collects from your door and brings them home.

There's no cat-only resort like this closer to Newcastle. Most Hunter owners decide the short run south is worth it for a facility built only for cats. If it isn't, the Cat Chauffeur turns the trip into a door-to-door pick-up, so the distance becomes ours, not yours.

How Our Cat Boarding Works

Get in touch.
Phone (02) 4358 2608 or book online via the Booking page. Tell us your dates, your cat's age, any medication, and which Suite tier you're interested in.

Confirm vaccinations.
F3 minimum, boostered at least two weeks before arrival, with a vet certificate on or before drop-off. All cats over six months old must be desexed.

Book the Cat Chauffeur, or drive down.
For most Newcastle and Hunter owners, the easiest option is the Cat Chauffeur: a cat-only, air-conditioned door-to-door pick-up. Prefer to drop off yourself? Reception is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 11am, for check-ins and check-outs.

Cat Utopia is around 40 minutes south of Newcastle at Doyalson North. We board cats from across Newcastle and the Hunter, including:
Newcastle city and inner suburbs: Newcastle CBD, Newcastle East, The Hill, Merewether, Hamilton, New Lambton, Adamstown, Kotara.
Western Newcastle and Hunter: Wallsend, Maryland, Cardiff, Glendale, Edgeworth, Maitland.
Southern Lake Macquarie crossover (on the way down): Belmont, Swansea, Caves Beach, Catherine Hill Bay.
Drive down and drop off at the resort, or book the Cat Chauffeur for a quoted door-to-door pick-up and return across Newcastle and the Hunter.

Cat Utopia publishes every suite rate on the website, from $32 a night for a Classique Suite up to $110 to $130 for a Penthouse. A 20% peak surcharge applies from 15 December to 15 January, and 10% across NSW school holidays. The rate is the same wherever you live. There’s no separate Newcastle pricing.
Cat Utopia is at Doyalson North, around 40 minutes south of Newcastle. The Cat Chauffeur covers Newcastle and the Hunter with a cat-only, air-conditioned door-to-door pick-up, quoted per trip and paid in cash to the driver. So you can either drive down or let us collect.

F3 is the minimum. F3, F4, or F5 are all accepted. The annual booster must be given at least two weeks before arrival, and you’ll need to bring or send a vet certificate. We reserve the right to refuse admission if vaccinations are not current.
Yes. Cats aged 13 and over are placed in our Orient Suite, which is custom-designed with air conditioning and heating, and the Senior Package is compulsory (and included in the Orient rate). For cats on medication, our Nannies administer prescribed doses daily and monitor health throughout the stay. Bring the medication, a clear dosing schedule, and your vet’s contact details at drop-off.
For Christmas and the 15 December to 15 January peak window, we recommend booking as early as possible. Our standard Suites fill first, then the Sanctuary Retreat tiers, then the Bungalow Suites open up as overflow. The Bungalow Suites are peak-period only and include one Play Area session per day. A 20% surcharge applies across this window.
Yes, tours are by appointment. Phone the office on (02) 4358 2608 to arrange a time. Reception is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 11am for check-ins, with the office answering phones and emails 9am to 4pm.
We have a Transit Lounge for after-hours pick-up and drop-off, available by appointment. A $20 fee applies for Sunday usage. The Transit Lounge is designed so cats wait in separate, air-conditioned cubicles with bedding.
